Intervention Overview

Does your patient need practice dressing themselves or their children? Have them practice putting clothes on your facility dog! The patient can put shirts, pants, onesies, or even diapers on your dog to practice ADLs.

Patient Instructions

  • Patient in sitting or standing position

  • Put pieces of clothing on facility dog

Dog’s Role

  • Place dog on floor or therapy mat

  • Sit calmly while patient puts clothes on

  • Interaction level: active

Scaling

Make it easier:

  • Use larger clothing items

Make it harder:

  • Use tighter fitting clothing items

  • Use clothes that have zippers, buttons, clasps

  • Let dog move around to simulate wiggly toddlers
