Intervention Overview

This is a fun modification to a standard exercise focusing on leg and core strength. Position your patient in tall kneeling, and have your dog place their paws on your patient’s shoulders. Your dog acts as resistance while your patient performs tall kneel squats. Beware: this exercise may result in a lot of kisses to the face!

Patient Instructions

  • Position patient in tall kneeling

  • Perform tall kneel squats against resistance

  • Position dog in front of patient, paws on patient’s shoulders

  • Interaction level: active

Scaling

Make it easier:

  • Only perform mini squats

Make it harder:

  • Uneven surface (foam balance pad under patient’s knees)
